When in San Juan, you can visit La Placita de Santurce… It’s a vibrant open-air marketplace with food, outdoor drink stands, bars, dancing, and nightlife…. La Placita personally isn’t my favorite place to hang out for a family trip, but does offer a lot if you’re traveling with adults and want to experience the area. Let’s chat about it…

What is La Placita de Santurce
It offers a little bit of everything – that’s particularly great for adults.
- Street vendors
- Art galleries
You can get into some day drinking at one of these outdoor bar restaurants in La Placita…
So – if you like to party, come here!
Foodie tip: during the day, visit Plaza Del Mercado
In the middle of La Placita is Plaza Del Mercado.
Outside are these awesome avocado sculptures my family enjoyed.
I kind of want one for my front yard!
During the day, you can browse the open-air market and check out local produce.
It gets lively here at night!
Why I say this is better for adults is that it becomes alive when the sun goes down in San Juan!
In La Placita de Santurce, they say that every day is a celebration of Puerto Rican culture.
You’ll see it in the beautiful Santurce murals you pass on the way to La Placita.
Grab a bite for dinner and then stay to enjoy the vibrant music and people dancing in the street during a fun night out…
There are so many restaurants in La Placita to check out. I don’t have a favorite recommendation yet, so check back!
